I verbi modali sono verbi ausiliari che esprimono capacità, permesso, obbligo o possibilità. "Can" esprime capacità o permesso al presente. "Could" esprime capacità passate o richieste cortesi. "Must" esprime un obbligo forte o una certezza logica. I verbi modali sono sempre seguiti dalla forma base del verbo.
QUANDO USARE
Usa "can" per capacità/permesso al presente. "Could" per capacità passate, richieste cortesi o possibilità. "Must" per un obbligo forte (del parlante) o deduzione logica. "Should" per consiglio o raccomandazione.

I verbi modali sono seguiti dal verbo base SENZA "to"

I verbi modali non aggiungono mai -s/-es per he/she/it
Suggerimento
I verbi modali hanno DUE regole speciali: 1) Mai aggiungere -s per he/she/it (she can, NON she cans). 2) Sempre seguiti dalla forma base, mai "to + verbo" (you must go, NON you must to go).
