There is / There are

Χρησιμοποίησε "there is" για να πεις ότι υπάρχει κάτι ή για να περιγράψεις ουσιαστικό ενικού ή μη μετρήσιμο. Χρησιμοποίησε "there are" για ουσιαστικά πληθυντικού. Στις ερωτήσεις αντιστρέφουμε υποκείμενο και ρήμα: "Is there...?"

ΠΟΤΕ ΝΑ ΤΟ ΧΡΗΣΙΜΟΠΟΙΕΙΤΕ

Χρησιμοποίησε "there is/are" για να εισάγεις ή να ανακοινώσεις την ύπαρξη κάποιου πράγματος. Είναι πολύ συνηθισμένο για να περιγράψεις τι υπάρχει σε ένα μέρος ή για να δηλώσεις ότι κάτι υπάρχει (ή δεν υπάρχει).

Χρησιμοποίησε "there is" για να εισάγεις την ύπαρξη ενός πράγματος — όχι "it is"

There is many students in the class.

There are many students in the class.

Χρησιμοποίησε "there are" με ουσιαστικά στον πληθυντικό

Συμβουλή

Το ρήμα "is" ή "are" συμφωνεί με το ουσιαστικό που ακολουθεί, όχι με το "there". Άκου λοιπόν τι έρχεται μετά: "There IS a dog" (ενικός) vs "There ARE dogs" (πληθυντικός).
